PhD RA position available in applied math - infectious disease modeling; GRE NOT required

A PhD RA position is available in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. This position, supported by the National Science Foundation, will focus on developing mathematical and statistical methods to study within-host dynamics of virus infections (such as HIV, hepatitis B/C virus, influenza, etc) and immune responses. The student can also do research in mathematical epidemiology, for example, spread and transmission of infectious diseases between hosts, development of drug resistance, and treatment strategies.

Funding is already in place. The RA support is at least 3 years beginning Fall 2012, followed by teaching assistantship if needed. Salary is competitive plus fringe benefits and full tuition waiver.
