PhD candidate positions for August 2012 and April 2013 intake are
available in Prof. Jie Tang`s Group in 1D Nanomaterials Group of
National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. NIMS has a
joint program with University of Tsukuba of PhD students education
that NIMS offers Graduate Research Assistantship for excellent
students in Doctoral Program course in Materials Science and
Engineering. Applicants should first pass admission test held by
University of Tsukuba. The successful candidates will receive a
monthly stipend as NIMS Junior Researchers. Monthly stipend is up
to about 190,000 JPY per month. You can find more detail from the

Applicant should be expected to have a MS degree in materials
science, metallurgical engineering, physics or chemistry by the end
of March 2012. The student will work on the graphene based
materials for supercapacitor. Any students with experience in
graphene and carbon nanotube synthesis, supercapacitor, lithium ion
battery and electrochemistry are highly preferred.
