[JP]PHD POSITION in Tsukuba University

Tsukuba University (http://www.tsukuba.ac.jp/english/index.html) is located in the city of Tsukuba which is a new science city in the vicinity of Tokyo. Many research institutes are located here. The city enjoys great natural environment and a low living cost. The university is among the best universities in Japan and famous for its active and free academic atmosphere, standing out from traditional Japanese universities.

National Institute for Materials Science of Japan (http://www.nims.go.jp/eng/) is one of best research institutions in the area of Materials Science in the world. The institute has the highest level of equipments and supporting system and is fairly international. The 1D Nanomaterials Group's research concentrates on the property study and application of inorganic nanowires and carbon nanotubes. The group leader is Dr. Tang Jie, a NIMS senior researcher and Professor in the Department of Physics Engineering of Tsukuba University.

1. Applicants are expected to have a BS degree or a MS degree in materials science, metallurgical engineering, physics or chemistry from a top university.
2. The Ph.D. candidates in this program will be supported with 190,000JPY per month(160,000JPY for Ms candidates).
3. The applicants who pass the enrollment examination have a chance for full-exemption or half-exemption of the tuition fee.
4. The Phd program is a 3-year course and the Ms program is a 2-year course with the opportunity for further pursuing a Phd degree.
5. All academic courses will be conducted in English and Japanese language skill is not a requisite.
6. The deadline is October 30th.
