Title: Two New Ph.D. Positions Available in ECE at the University of Rhode Island

The Computational Intelligence and Self-Adaptive Systems (CISA) Laboratory at the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking applications for two funded Ph.D. positions. Our laboratory is focusing on cutting-edge research on the fundamental advancement of computational intelligence and adaptive systems, as well as their applications to a wide range of domains, such as energy and power grids, cybersecurity, sensor networks, and cognitive radio networks.

Two new Ph.D. positions are available immediately for highly-motivated students with a strong research background and capability. For both positions, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

A Master degree in engineering, mathematics, or related fields is preferred, thought outstanding undergraduate students will also be considered;

Strong mathematical background and proficient in modeling and simulation in a programming environment, such as Matlab;

Previous research experiences in related fields and scientific publications in journals/conferences are preferred;

Strong communication skills;

In addition, we also hope the candidates have strong interests and/or previous research experience on either one of the following two fields:

[Position 1]:

Strong background and interests in smart grid, security research, and/or adaptive control are preferred, though other research background will also be considered;

[Position 2]:

Strong background and interests in statistical signal processing, machine learning, data mining, computational intelligence are preferred, though other research background will also be considered;
