Ph.D.(RA opening) UMASS- Lowell

Research Assistant in Optical Sensors, ECE (BostonArea)
Position: PhD RA in Optical Sensors
Organization: Electrical & Computer Engineering Department, UMASS- Lowell
Location: Lowell, USA

Description:
A highly motivated PhD RA in optical sensors is needed. Our current research includes biosensors, sensors for harsh environment, MEMS technology applied in optical field, special fiber waveguides, and adaptive optical sensors.

Our center features:
Good facilities: We can access a lot of equipment, such as clean room, SEM, AFM, etc. in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Nano Center, Physics, etc. A few experiments are also conducted in Harvard and MIT clean rooms.
Good community and potential cooperation: Only 45 minutes drive from Boston downtown (commuter train available). We have some cooperation with local companies.

Qualifications:
The candidates have Master degree and/or research experience in Bioengineering, Optical Engineering, Sensors, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, orrelated areas are desirable. Hands-on experiment skills and creative thinking are highly appreciated. The pplicant should have demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication (in English). Good programming skill, especially in MATLAB, is a plus.

The candidates should be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, drive for results and success with a sense of urgency, take personal responsibility for outcomes, and think outside of box to meet business requirements.
