Postdoctoral researcher in Computational Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at MIT invites applications for one postdoctoral position in the area of computational mathematics.

This position is part of an industry-sponsored effort to solve inverse problems in seismology. Prefer ence will be given to candidates who have a strong background in some of the following areas: numerical methods for partial differential equations, optimization, C or Fortran programming, parallel programming, and seismology.

The position is for 2 years, with a possibility of extension to a third year pending availability of funding. The salary is competitive. The candidate's message should contain "Postdoc position" in the subject and should indicate any overlap of research interests with Prof. Demanet. (If you have also submitted your file via mathjobs for the instructor position, no need to have the recommendation letters sent by email for this position.)
