Postdoctoral researcher in Computational Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at MIT invites applications for one postdoctoral position in the area of computational mathematics.

This position is part of an industry-sponsored effort to solve inverse problems in seismology. Prefer ence will be given to candidates who have a strong background in some of the following areas: numerical methods for partial differential equations, optimization, C or Fortran programming, parallel programming, and seismology.

The position is for 2 years, with a possibility of extension to a third year pending availability of funding. The salary is competitive.
