The positions will be with the Network Management group at the Laboratory
for Communication Networks (LCN). The group has a strong track record in
scalable management of networked systems, and it maintains a network of
collaborations, both within KTH and internationally. The successful
candidates will join the ACCESS LINNAEUS Centre that conducts research
towards future networked systems (www.access.kth.se).

A Ph.D. student position at KTH extends over a maximum of five years and
includes 80% time for research and 20% for department duties, typically
teaching.

The starting dates for the positions are planned for the second quarter of
2010.

Qualifications:
We seek highly motivated individuals holding an M.Sc. degree in computer
science, electrical engineering, or a related area. An applicant must have
excellent academic credentials, a well-documented background in
communication or computing (preferably both), and a proven interest in
applying theoretical results from science and engineering to creating novel
technology. Expertise in some of the following areas is required:
networking, distributed algorithms, stochastic processes, protocol modeling
and analysis, software engineering.

Application:
The application deadline is March 31, 2009. Applications should contain a
letter of presentation with a research statement, curriculum vitae, grade
reports, and references.

For further information, contact Prof. Rolf Stadler (stadler@ee.kth.se;

PhD Student Position in WSN

We are glad to announce a PhD position at the University of Trento, Italy, for doing research in WSN within the D3S group. D3S is a cross-institution group of researchers from both the university and the nearby FBK-IRST research centre, whose projects are characterised by theoretical backing and practical applicability.

Examples of projects currently ongoing include TRITon, a project on road tunnel monitoring using WSNs, and ACube, a project where a pervasive computing environment equipped with audio, video, and other types of sensors provide support for elders and people with disabilities. New PhD students are invited to participate in ongoing projects to gain experience and insight into real systems, and to identify novel, challenging problems whose solutions break new ground.

Complete info about the call, the University, the city and previous research projects from this group are available here.
